The Homewood School District 153 Board of Education has begun the search process to replace Superintendent Dr. Scott McAlister who is retiring June 30, 2026. SCHOOL EXEC CONNECT, an educational search firm, was hired to assist in this process.

Consultants Facilitate Community Engagement:
  • Conduct Interviews with Focus Groups/Board of Education
  • Conduct Open Forum for Staff and Community
  • Collect Online Survey Feedback from Members of the School Community (available online September 3- 10)

Accept and Screen Applications


September 22, 2025

Consultants Present New Superintendent Profile to the Board


Mid-October 2025

Consultants Interview and Vet Promising Candidates


October 27, 2025

Consultants Present Slate of 5-7 Recommended Candidates to the Board & Conduct Interviewing Workshop


November 3-4, 2025

Board Conducts Initial Interviews of 5-7 Candidates (Special Board Mtgs)


November 10-11, 2025

Board Conducts Second Interviews of 3 Finalists over three days
Board Selects their Top Choice


November 12-21, 2025

Board may choose to conduct a site visit or make reference calls
Board negotiates contract with selected candidate


November 24, 2025

Board Takes Formal Action on the New Superintendent Contract


July 1, 2026

New Superintendent Assumes Duties
