Welcome to Willow’s Computer Lab! My name is Wanda Gunter and I teach all the K – 2 grade students at Willow School. Kindergartners visit the computer lab once per week for a 35 minute lesson. First and second graders visit the computer lab once per week for 45 minutes.
Our computer lab is an extremely busy, exciting place where volunteers are always needed. In fact, many parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc. help in the lab on a regular basis. We love our volunteers! Because of the number of volunteers we have, our students are able to create some fantastic projects in the lab. If you are interested in assisting with your child’s class in the computer lab, please let me know. You can contact me via email or phone: wanda.gunter@homewoodsd153.org , 647-2382.
My goal is to help children and teachers understand that the computer is just another tool to use in their education. I strive to teach computer skills through activities that stem from the existing K-2 curriculum. Therefore, I work in collaboration with all the classroom teachers.
We work on keyboarding skills, word processing, slideshows, and much, much more. Some of the software we work with include:
Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
KidPix4 (for drawing and creating)
Kidspiration (graphic organizers)
Type to Learn, Jr. (keyboarding)
I truly love my job and thank you for giving me the privilege of working with your child. Ask your child about the computer lab each week. We would love to have you come on in and see what your child is doing firsthand.
