Welcome to Fifth Grade!

We are all excited to be working together, as a team, with you and your child. This year is a transition year for students as they enter into middle school. Students at Millennium School do have higher expectations to follow. We reinforce this level of higher expectations by teaching and modeling the 3 B’s. The 3 B’s include:

Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible

Millennium teachers, administration and staff work together to create a safe learning environment for each child. We continually improve our curriculum and teaching methods so that all children are learning at a level commensurate with his/her learning style. For example, we adopted a new social studies curriculum this year, as well as a new science curriculum called DASH (Developmental Approach to Science, Health and Technology). We align our curriculum so that all students are taught the same material (although not all at the same time), no matter whose class they are in.

The fifth grade teachers feel that communication is a key element to ensuring the success of your child. We measure success as not only relating to academics, but emotional and behavioral as well. We encourage families to check assignment notebooks daily as a means of informally communicating with teachers. Of course, we all can be reached via email and telephone as well!

We all look forward as a team working together to enhance growth and success for each child!

Sincerely,

5th Grade Essential Skills
